Gas Pipe Inspection Service in Accordance With Local Law 152

In 2016, the New York City Council passed an order as part of a new gas safety package. Titled Local Law 152, the regulation stipulates that piping systems in every New York City building should be inspected periodically. To help our clients meet this requirement, we offer comprehensive gas piping inspection services.

Provisions of the Local Ordinance

This law requires the inspection of all exposed gas piping from its point of entry into the building, including those within the following:

  • Building Services Meters
  • Public Spaces
  • Hallways
  • Corridors
  • Mechanical and Boiler Rooms

However, the local order excludes gas piping within apartments from this inspection.

Fines for Violation

Civil penalties for not completing your LL152 Gas Pipe Inspection can cost up to $10,000.00.

The Inspection Process

We will have our licensed inspectors monitor all exposed gas piping, utilizing a Combustible Gas Indicator to detect any possible leaks. Our Master Plumber will then provide the building owner a Gas Piping System Periodic Inspection Report (GPS1).

Post-Inspection

Within 60 days of the inspection, the owner must submit to the Department of Buildings (DOB) a Gas Piping System Periodic Inspection Certification (GPS2), signed and sealed by our Master Plumber. If there are any unsafe conditions discovered during the inspection, our Master Plumber will be required to immediately notify DOB and the gas supply company. This may cause the gas service to be shut-off.

Should there be any corrective measures to be taken after our inspection is completed, A quote will be provided.
